Mersey Synod Meeting October 2024: Churches gather from across the region
It was wonderful to have so many of us together from across our churches at the Mersey Synod Meeting. The theme of this Synod meeting was Living Faith, which is the start of the new Synod theme for the next two years.
Peasley Cross URC celebrates 50th anniversary
Peasley Cross URC recently celebrated 50 years of its building on the current site. The service was attended by the Lord Mayor of St Helens, Jeanette Banks, the Synod Moderator, Revd Geoff Felton, representatives of local churches and friends. They were welcomed by Helen Greener, the Church Secretary, and prayers were said by Margaret Worrall, to express joy and thanks to God.

Talking Faith event encourages Courage, Confidence & tackling Complicated Questions
Why do bad things happen to good people? Doesn’t religion just cause wars? How can we as Christians respond to these challenges the world is facing today? This event with Charlie Styles, CEO and Speaker, and Clare Williams, Associate Speaker, at the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA), helped churches across the Synod to engage with the big questions of our life and faith.

Season of Creation 2024
The Season of Creation runs 1st September to 4th October every year. It is adopted ecumenically and internationally as a time to draw attention to the environment, and creation. Worship and prayer resources can be found here

The next meeting of our Mersey Synod is Saturday 12th October 2024 at Allerton United Reformed Church, Mather Ave, Allerton L18 7HD
Booking is essential and anyone can attend (although only members can vote). We shall gather as leaders of the churches so that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we may discern the mind of Christ for the future and to give thanks for work that has been completed since we last met.
URC Mersey Synod Job Vacancy: Grant (Bid) Finder and Writer/Office Admin Support (part time)
Are you interested in working for a Charity as part of a small and friendly team? Your main role will be to write funding applications and bids for church projects and assist churches in their applications, from external funders. In the Synod Office you will cover the Reception Area and provide general office administrative support to the Staff Team, the Synod committees and local churches.
